Top 5 Wednesday : SciFi & Fantasy

PicMonkey Collage3

It’s hump day which means I’ll be starting Top 5 Wednesdays on my blog where you basically follow a prompt that is found on the Top 5 Wednesday group on goodreads. This month I’ll be doing Top 5 book related posts so for the whole month of April you get a look into my book tastes. These aren’t really in order from 1 to 5 because I’m equally excited about all of them.

  • The Seafarer’s Kiss by Julia Ember – This books focuses on LGBT aspects as well as Fantasy aspects. What I can get from the synopsis is the main character has to make a choice between saying goodbye to a new friend or face the wrath of a king. I have wanted to read Julia’s other book which is called Unicorn Tears for a long time now. I think this one is more up my alley due to mermaids being a thing.
  • Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson – I am so ready to jump into this book again. It’s been on my shelf for ages. I have started it a few times, but due to life I wasn’t able to finish it. This books deal with the ability to to control metals. I honestly think it’s best to go into Mistborn not knowing too much about it so you can fully experience the magic behind it.
  • The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig – This book is a classic mix of fantasy and science fiction. It deals with time travel which honestly is one of the main reasons why I wanted to read it. It’s about a girl who has basically been time traveling all her life with her father. The only problem is her father wants to go back to when he met the girl’s mother which could erase her from existence. This book sounds like it’s going to be full of adventure.
  • Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman – I don’t really think I need to explain what this is. Neil Gaiman put together a collection of short stories dealing with Norse Mythology. Some people that make an appearance is Thor, Loki, Odin, and loads more. I am a sucker for anything Mythology related so this is right up my alley.
  • Bioshock : Rapture by John Shirley – Man if any of you are long time friends of mine you know how much I love Bioshock. I love the games, the costume designs, the storylines, and the whole ice cream sundae. The moment I found out about this book I knew I had to have it. I am planning on picking it up off my tbr shelf this summer because this book just needs to be read. It gives you a bit more of a back story for the games.

So these are the top five sci-fi and fantasy books I want to read. I currently own Mistborn and Bioshock so I know those two will happen. I hope to get my hands on the others. Do you have a favorite sci-fi/fantasy book? Leave me a comment down below telling me more about it.
